MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is ahead of the field in the Republican primary for governor.
The businessman and staunch ally of President Donald Trump is getting 27% of the primary vote today. House Speaker Lisa Demuth garnered 22% of respondents’ votes, with GOP-endorsed Kendall Qualls at 17%. Roughly 24% of likely Republican voters are still undecided.
By demographic:
- Men skewed toward Lindell while women were more undecided and split between Lindell and Demuth.
- Voters under the age of 50 leaned toward Lindell while Demuth did better with older voters.
- More conservative voters generally supported Lindell while more moderate Republicans skewed toward Demuth.
Analysis: “Lindell will be competitive because of his name recognition, but in order to win, he’s going to need a cash infusion in order to stay ahead of other candidates,” said Carleton College political analyst Steven Schier, who said advertising and messaging could make a big difference in the outcome of the race.
